Cardiff's Joe Ledley will travel to AS Roma for talks

Cardiff City midfielder Joe Ledley will travel to Rome to meet with officials of AS Roma to discuss a deal and assess the facilities at the club.

Ledley, 23, visited Celtic's Lennoxtown training complex on Monday and was believed to be close to signing.

However, BBC Sport Wales understands that, while Celtic remain favourites to sign him, Ledley is also considering interest from Old Firm rivals Rangers.

If Ledley opts to move to Scotland, no compensation would be paid to Cardiff.

Chairman Peter Ridsdale to quit Cardiff at end of month

 

Chairman Peter Ridsdale is to leave Cardiff City at the end of next month.

His imminent departure was confirmed in a statement issued by the club in the early hours of Saturday morning.

"Agreement has been reached with regard to new funding for the company and restructuring of its existing debt," the statement said.

"As a result of this new fundraising, Peter Ridsdale will be standing down from his position and leaving the company on May 31, 2010."

 

Malaysian businessman Datuk Chan Tien Ghee is planning a £6m investment, which will give him a 49% shareholding in the club.

Cardiff City to meet Welsh FA over unpaid cash

Cardiff City will meet the Welsh FA to discuss money owed from November's friendly match between Wales and Scotland at the Cardiff City Stadium.

Football Association of Wales sources says although they have had a receipt for money owed, they have not been paid from the cash-strapped club.

Cardiff they will meet FAW chiefs on Tuesday to work out the exact sum owed.

A Cardiff City spokesman said: "We are surprised to hear that there is concern over money owed to the Welsh FA."

QPR approach Crystal Palace over boss Neil Warnock

QPR have approached Crystal Palace's administrators to ask to open talks with manager Neil Warnock over a move to Loftus Road, reports BBC London.

Mick Harford is currently in charge of Rangers - but is their fourth manager of a turbulent season.

And Warnock told BBC Radio Sheffield ahead of Palace's game at Doncaster that the two clubs were in talks.

"Somebody told me this morning that they are in conversation shall we say," he said.

But the Eagles boss has insisted he will not leave Selhurst Park to move to west London unless compensation is agreed.

Flavio Briatore quits as QPR chairman but keeps shares

Flavio Briatore has stepped down as chairman of Queens Park Rangers Holdings with immediate effect.

Briatore and Formula One supremo Bernie Ecclestone bought the club in September 2007, with Briatore vowing they would be in the Premier League in five years.

But since they they have had an amazing 10 managerial changes and 47 players have been signed by the club.

They currently lie 19th in the Championship table and have lost their last five matches.
