Beckham: 'Rooney is the world's best'

David Beckham hailed Wayne Rooney as the best player in the world after the Manchester United striker upstaged him on his Old Trafford return.

Rooney took his goal tally for the season to 30 as United demolished Beckham's AC Milan to march into the Champions League quarter-finals.

And Becks, who received a standing ovation from United fans when he came on as a second-half substitute, paid England team-mate Rooney the ultimate compliment.

"I keep saying it but Wayne is such an exceptional talent," said Beckham.

United hero David Beckham pins colours to the mast by backing fans' green and gold protest

Former Manchester United Manchester United hero David Beckham gave his own remarkable support to the Old Trafford green and gold campaign on Wednesday night.

The England midfielder made an emotional return to the club where he made his name, only to see a rampant United crush his AC Milan side.

Beckham, however, still made sure that he grabbed the headlines as he plucked a green and gold scarf from the pitch at full-time and draped it proudly round his neck.
The campaign has grown every week since it was launched in January as a symbol of defiance against the Glazer family who own United.

Ronaldinho warns Manchester United 'nothing is impossible'

Ronaldinho has warned Manchester United that "nothing is impossible".

The AC Milan star is undaunted by United's 3-2 advantage heading into Wednesday's Champions League return at Old Trafford.

Ronaldinho claims Milan have enough big-game players in their team to record a historic win over Sir Alex Ferguson's men.

"It will be a very difficult match, but nothing is impossible," said the Brazilian. "I think it's going to be a very beautiful match.

Ferguson reveals Evans fury

Sir Alex Ferguson has admitted that Jonny Evans bore the brunt of his anger following Manchester United's disappointing first-half performance against AC Milan.

The Red Devils came from behind to beat the Rossoneri 3-2 at the San Siro on Tuesday night in the first leg of their UEFA Champions League tie.

They went into half-time at 1-1 but had been on the back foot for much of the opening 45 minutes after an uncharacteristically poor display.

The defence looked shaky and Ferguson has now revealed that centre-back Evans received the full force of his fury.

"I was just giving him a bit of gentle advice," Ferguson said in the Daily Mail.

Sir Alex Ferguson has admitted to being unnerved by the hostile atmosphere at the San Siro in Manchester United's epic Champions League tie with AC Milan.

United boss Fergie, the most experienced coach in European football, revealed he became nervous and lost his composure when Milan took an early lead.

Although United recovered to win the first-leg of the quarter-final 3-2, thanks to two Wayne Rooney headers, Fergie revealed the full extent of his nerves in a frank admission.
