Charlton Athletic youth ban coloured boots

Charlton Athletic's youngsters will not be allowed to wear coloured boots until they have reached the first team squad.

Addicks midfielder Lloyd Sam sports canary yellow boots, while Kyel Reid and Therry Racon have both worn red boots for Charlton.

But academy players wanting to follow suit can think again according to development manager Damien Matthew.

He told BBC Radio Kent: "People might say they've gone old fashioned but it's going back to that discipline."

He continued: "If you make it as a professional that's the reward you get but until then we have that little bit of control over you.

U`s Say Done-Deal Solano Talk 'Premature`

The eagerly anticipated transfer of Nolberto Solano has not been finalised, despite earlier reports saying the former Newcastle, Aston Villa & West Ham utility man had already joined.

The experienced Peruvian is to have another trial before any deal can be agreed, Vital Colchester now understands, following yesterday`s report on the site that the deal may already have been struck.

Swindon and Cardiff fans charged

Eighteen football fans have been charged with violent disorder after 50 Swindon Town and Cardiff City supporters clashed.

Fighting broke out in the Bridge Street area of Swindon following a friendly match on 2 July.

The men, aged between 16 and 41, were arrested in early morning raids last month and have been released on bail to appear in court in January.

Ten of the men are from Swindon and eight from South Wales.
