Robbie Fowler makes A-League switch to Perth Glory

Former Liverpool striker Robbie Fowler will play for A-League club Perth Glory from next season.

The 35-year-old will be Perth's foreign marquee player, which means his wages are excluded from their salary cap.

"It's exciting for football fans in Western Australia that a legend has decided to play for us," said Perth chairman Tony Sage.

Fowler was released from his contract with cash-strapped North Queensland Fury after one season in Townsville.

Ryan Giggs opens door to Wales return with John Toshack

Former captain Ryan Giggs says he would consider a Wales return if asked by national manager John Toshack.

"It's something I would have to talk about with John Toshack and [Manchester United manager] Sir Alex Ferguson," said the veteran United midfielder, 36.

"But at this stage I wouldn't dismiss the idea. If I had the call I would have to think hard about it. I wouldn't rule it out," he told the Western Mail.

The injury to Wales' Aaron Ramsey is cited as a reason for Giggs' rethink.

Giggs has hailed Arsenal's teenage sensation Ramsey as a "future Wales captain".

But the horrific injury suffered by the 19-year-old against Stoke - fractures to his tibia and fibula in his right leg which required surgery - means he could be out until the new year, missing Wales' first three Euro 2012 qualifiers.

Collison said: "We've a lot of good young players but it's time to show we can compete at this level."
